It would seem that Edith and John may have divorced. Had the mariage taken place in Scotland, there would be an annotation on the Register of Marriage where divorce had taken place, but as John and Edith married in the USA ....  :-\

Given Edith's full name, it would seem, more likely than not, that the records you found are for her.

I will continue to pursue your findings with family members "across the pond" and see if anything else comes to light.

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!
