I'm one! My father, William, is mentioned in the 1911 census referred to here. His father was also William born 1878 and he worked on Guinness Boats. I have found a record of a medal he was awarded at end of WW1. He , my grandfather , is buried in Deans Grange and I have visited his grave,

Thats him alright. - I hadn't known his date of birth , thanks. He had a large family as can be seen from the 1911 census. My father isnt on it as he was born 1912. They lived in 35 Tivoli Terrace East, Dun Laoghaire. One brother went to UK - Robert. I have a picture of him and will upload when i dig it out.

Davemm - there is a photo of your grand dad on Findmypast.com, they have his CR10 Merchant Navy card, so the photo was taken as he signed up (probably in Liverpool) or you can get a much better quality version from Southampton Archives if you follow the Irishmariners link that Dathai posted earlier. It gives you the information for them to find the card and they charge £2 + £1.25 each for the colour prints (front and back)

Thanks for that Hasta. I'd love to have a copy so will try and go there now.

Just found a William Mundow marriage to Anne Walsh 9th Feb 1839 in the Parish of St Mary in Dublin. I'll ask the cousin who is a priest where that is.

Found this 1930: my father bottom left ( Billy)
