Catherine (McCorkell) Dwyer
« on: Monday 12 October 15 21:26 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am hoping someone can help locate Catherine or family in the 1930 Federal Census or find a death record for her, I have tried in vain without success, I have some possibilities for death records but cannot confirm, here's what I have.

Catherine was born in 1860, Donegal Ireland

emigrated to Canada in 1888, made her way to Boston Mass. where she married William G Dwyer on the 1st June 1891.

Daughter Jane Elizabeth born Boston 7th April 1898

Family appear in 1900 Census in Boston

Family move to California:
1910 Census living at Pasadena Ward 5 Los Angeles

1920 Census still living Pasadena, Los Angeles, California

daughter now married (Butler) living with parents with child Thomas Butler

I lose site of the family after this Census

I can find William's death record 1940, Glendale, California, but not Catherine's, I am also unable to find them in the 1930 Federal census.

Any help appreciated

Regards

Think I may have found Catherine in the 1930 Federal census, unfortunately she appears to be an inmate in the Patton State Hospital, San Bernardino, which I believe was a psychiatric hospital.

From its opening in 1893 until 1934 over 2000 patients died and were buried in the hospital grounds.

There is a death record for a Katherin Dwyer from 1932,  San Bernardino, which I believe is probably my Catherine :(

It appears that William and Katherine were buried here - http://forestlawn.com/find/  They appear to be a few spaces away from each other, but in the same section and lot.

Search for K Dwyer on the site I mentioned, and two different Katherines show up.  The other one is more likely to be the one you're looking for.  findagrave.com just includes what volunteers have added, so there are nearly always people in a cemetery that aren't included there.

Okay,

Thanks again Shelly, I knew of the two graves, the ones with the photo's but didn't realise there was a third, I see that now on the link you sent me, pity there's no photo as it might clear things up, strong possibility it may be Catherine however, will have to see if I can get a photo of it somewhere or transcription.
