Baptisms Grimston - Warner
« on: Tuesday 13 October 15 16:39 BST (UK) »
I am having difficulty matching the children of Jeffr(e)y & Mary Warner shown on the 1861 (RG9,Piece 1251,Folio 132,Page 5) & 1871 (RG10,1859,134,5/6) Censuses with entries on the England & Wales Birth Index. The children are shown as being born in Grimston. I was wondering if anyone has access to the baptism records for St Botolph's, Grimston, they would be kind enough to check if they include the Warner children over the period 1850-1870.

There are a couple of possibilities for William.
And I see Jeffrey seems to be John in 1871 census (did you see there are lots more younger children there too?)

So maybe he is:

Birth
Ap/May/Jun 1854
Freebridge Lynn
4b 339
John Henry Warner

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

This is where the confusion lies lizdb. On the 1861 Census, Jeffrey is aged 8 years and William 7 years. On the 1871 Census, the 17 year old is John, not William. Perhaps he was John William. There are two births registered in the name of John William Warner, in 1850 & 1856, neither of which corresponds with his age on the Censuses. There is also another William on the 1871 Census, aged 5 years, which I think I have found on the Birth Index as William Nelson Warner in 1865. The only birth entry I can find for a Jeffrey Warner is in 1859.
Thanks for your input so far.

Grimston Parish Records are at the Norfolk Record Office
Baptism 1813-1967 ref: PD 724/2

You will have to request a search as they are not on line.
AT's on freereg to 1812 only.
BT's are on line through family search but are not by parish, they are lumped alphabetically by year. I tried 1859 for Obadiah he was not there. It's not to say he isn't in the original parish register.
