I am looking for information and/or images of the Glebe Cleft Villas, Sunderland, UK.  My Gx2/Grandfather died at 22 Glebe Cleft Villas and I would love to obtain an image(s) of that location.  Also any historical information relating to that address.  Can anybody assist please?
Regards

Glebe Cleft Villas was on the North Side of Chester Road between East Cleft Road and West Cleft Road. The site is now occupied by "The Precinct" of the University of Sunderland. If you go to  https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.9029538,-1.3949943,16.48z (website updated) and enter the post code SR27PR this is the Royalty PH (originally  the Glebe Hotel which was at Number 1 Glebe Cleft Villas).

This link (originaly mentioned) no longer works. If you go to http://www.durham-images.org/public/oldos/b3856/#8 you can zoom in and see the Glebe Hotel just to the left of the bridge over the railway, now called The Stumble Inn https://goo.gl/maps/FRFtXQRqboD2. The road was renumbered between 1902 and 1914 so the Glebe Hotel was No.1 Glebe Cleft Villas in 1902 but was 88 Chester Road in 1914.

This is a direct copy of my post http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=366850.msg2421782#msg2421782 of which an acknowlegement should have been made. As you can see the date is Monday 09 March 09 11:12 GMT (UK) and the Durham Site has changed since then.

My great grandparents lives there @ #20 so they may have been neighbours.  Was searching for the same thing when I came across this posting.  Information useful.  If you are able to find a photo of the front-face, grateful if you can share.   I tried accessing via google earth but quickly got lost....

Hi all,
My great great grandparents James and Elizabeth Elliott lived in 20 Glebe Cleft Terrace (126 Chester Rd), along with their 3 children my great grandfather William (immigrated to NZ), and his sisters Sarah and Mary. Sarah Crawford nee Elliott inherited the property, but I don't think she lived there, and it was left in her will to her niece Nellie Thompson in 1930 (I think Nellie was the daughter of Mary Ann Elliott but have not been able to find any info on her). Sarah Crawford owned many properties in Durham and also owned 21 Glebe Cleft Terrace (128 Chester Rd). Sadly I don't have any photo's.

I lived in Glebe Cleft Villas until 1952  and our address was 110, obviously this was after re-numbering circa 1900. I do have a couple of photographs of Glebe Cleft Villas which I can send you. How do I get them to you?
