Reginald Mitchell WW2
« on: Friday 16 October 15 07:22 BST (UK) »
Looking for any family of Reginald Mitchell who served  with the 2nd Scots Guards, possibly in Italy. He may have known my father who served in Italy  with the NZ troops 1943-45.
Scotlands People have a person of that name born 1918 in Newmilns.
Thank you

Hi Pink Petunia,

As you may know ,Rootschat does not allow details of living people on the site  :(
However your post caught my attention as I am a Newmilns lassie born and bred. Unfortunately I don't recognise the name .
But I have forwarded the details you provided to the committee of a Newmilns Community Facebook page and website asking them to post a request for any info. Hopefully someone will recognise the name and respond.
If I hear anything I will PM you.
Fingers crossed.

Looby :)

Thank you Looby. I  am sorry if I have done the wrong thing, but was just hoping for a link to his family.  I have something  here in NZ which I would like to return to them but have to verify I have the right family. Your help much appreciated.

Hi Pink Petunia,

No need to apologise to me  ;)
I just wanted to draw that rule to your attention. As long as we are not discussing details about the living on the site. There is nothing to stop me Private Messaging you with any info.
The webmaster of the Newmilns community site has posted your request for info. I do hope that someone recognises the name and is related.

Looby :)

Hi PP,

Unfortunately, no-one so far has responded to the request for info on Reginald Mitchell.

Do you have any other clues as to who he was? You mention you have something to pass on to his family......does this item offer any hint as to his origins.

Looby :)

Hi Looby,
It is his army kit bag, probably of no consequence but may be of sentimental value to grandchildren perhaps. It has his army service number on it but that's all. I wrote to the Scots Guards who verified the name and number but that was all.
Maybe he was not from your town or maybe he had moved on.
Thanks anyway

Pink P

Have you established that he survived the war?
