Ananias Mooren
« on: Friday 16 October 15 11:48 BST (UK) »
Hi i was looking for some info on the parents of my great grandfather Ananias Mooren.
all i know is his fathers name is Thomas MOORING and his mothers Mary BLAND.
I believe they were travellers as i' ve had some info before but haven't had much luck finding anything else since, it's been about two years.
an 1881 census shows they were living in tents somewhere near Henley i would apprieciate any further information. Thank you.

In case they are linked and can lead us to Ananias's family - here is the family that I found in 1881 (Moses and Ann & co) ten years earlier, wife seems to change between Ann, Mary and MAry Ann on various censuses.

1871
Tent in Smiths field, Kingswood
Moses Mooring 42 travelling tinker bn Wooton
Mary 38 bn Oxfordshire
Henry 16 hawker bn Sutton Berks
Andrew 14 bn Hedington Oxon
Hamadine 12 dtr bn Hedington  Deaf & Dumb from birth
Will 10 bn Hedington
Jem 8 bn Longford
Hannah 2
Fred 3mths

Cant see any other Mooring/Mooren etc families amongst the tents
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi

I have a tree on Ancestry with Ananias Mooren born 1858 - 1942 {reg as Mooring}

08 October 1883 he married a Henrietta Tame {born  Kingston Lyle} at  Sutton Courtenay and gives his father as Thomas Mooren labr

Before her marriage to Ananias Henrietta had a son and he connects {loosely!}to a branch of my family

I have not found Ananias before 1881 although in later census' he gives his place of birth as Nettlebed

Both Mooren/Moorhen and Tame are mis spelt in the various census

Ananias may have married again as Henrietta died in 1914

Both are buried at Sutton Courtenay

Hi thanks for info i was on this site about two years ago and a source gave me info that Ananias' parents were Thomas Mooring and Mary Bland. The Mooren Name which was my mothers' maiden name has been difficult to trace back and may have been misspelt along the way with Mooren,Moorhen and Mooring names given. I can go no further than Thomas Mooring and i was given info that Thomas and Mary never married as there is no marriage date or place. Ananias was born on 5 April 1858 and married Henrietta Tame on 8 October 1883.They had four sons, one of them Clarence, being my grandfather.i heard from a family member that Ananias made and sold pegs for a living something travellers often did.
