Facebook query by Lost Glasgow website
« on: Sunday 18 October 15 14:19 BST (UK) »
I have shared this info from FB, to see if we can find out the family of this young woman, apparently born 17 Aug 1910 in Chryston, Lanarkshire. On the Id Card, it says her name is Janet I or S Bell, but signs it N J Bell, I think. Cannot find correct birth certificate, need help please.

Notes from Lost Glasgow -

We stray today from our normal beat, to try to solve a mystery, which starts in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, leads us to Aberdeen, and ends... Well, who knows where?
Site fan Jonathan Litewski was helping his brother-in-law to
clean out a lockup facility in Aberdeen, when he came across this old, WWII, National Registration Identity Card, once the property of a Janet Bell.
Jonathan wonders, who she was, what became of her, and if she has any living relatives?
Having lost many of his own relatives in the Holocaust, Jonathan would like, if possible, to return the card to its rightful owners - Janet's family.

Link for photos, not sure how to get them to display, feel free to change.

HI,

I have checked on SP for a birth but search on Janet Bell, gives me one in Govanhill, a Janet Stuart Bell, but do not think that is correct one.

Hi Ev,

Could be, hadn't thought of that, although the photo does not show her in nurses uniform

This could be her...

The "could be" part:
She is exactly 1 year older than claimed.
She used her maiden rather than her married name.

1911 Census - Janet Johnston Bell b Cyryston.
Her birth date on her registration is 17 Aug 1909, Parents John Johnston Bell railway signalman and Janet Fairgrieve Watson.

Her Death:
1980 BELL JANET JOHNSTON Not Permissible IRVINE F 70 CHRYSTON /NORTH LANARKSHIRE 561/00 0096

She Married:
1934 IRVINE JOHN SHIELDS BELL JANET JOHNSTON CADDER (EASTERN) /LANARK 626/A2 0030

His Death:
1998 IRVINE JOHN SHIELDS Not Permissible   M 92 CHRYSTON /NORTH LANARKSHIRE 561/00 0014

I saw this on FB too - looks like a likely match, DonM! Need to find a tree somewhere with a link to living relatives!

Have had a look on GenesReunited but can't find any trees with a match for Janet or John.
