Did you get Badcock from one of their childrens birth certs?

No children in 1881 so presume any marriage was only a year or 2 before

Yes the Annie Webb formally Badcock was taken off my g grandmothers birth cert. Can't find any trace of their marriage,if ever they did. There is a Martha Ann Badcock born 1859 Drayton Berks on 1881 census, mothers name Millicent which happens to be one of Annie's children's name. Would it be possible to be on 2 censuses ? as she also appears in the 1881 with William. Know there are many white lies on these forms but this seems to be taking the mickey. Thanks and Regards

There doesn't appear to be any marriage for a Martha or Martha Ann Badcock between 1881 -1891 nor an 1891 entry so don't rule her out

There is a family on my family tree where the parents married about 10 years after their last child was born, have you considered this possibility?

1881 entry is Martha - not Martha Ann and birthyear is 1861 not 1859

She is shown as unmarried

Might be hard to prove, but it could be your William Edward Webb who married Elizabeth Harriet Coleman in Reading in 1874. Berkshire BMD:
http://www.berkshirebmd.org.uk/
shows this marriage as taking place at the register office, so unfortunately the only way to see it would be to buy the certificate.

There is a 19 year old Elizabeth Coleman living in Reading in 1871, along with her widowed father William Coleman. She was born in Reading.

A search of the 1881 census shows an Elizabeth H Webb aged 29 born in Reading. She says she is single and is a servant in a household in Reading.

There is no Elizabeth Harriet birth of any surname registered in Reading in 1851/52, which muddies the waters a bit at this point. There is an Elizabeth Coleman registered in 1850.

In 1891 Elizabeth H. aged 39 born in Reading appears to have taken up with a carpenter named Edwin Margetts and is living with him in Reading as his wife.
There is no marriage.

So if it was your William who married Elizabeth, it would explain the non-marriage to Annie, and possibly also the move to Wales.
