Does any one know the wife of Joseph...ie. Henry's mother?

Joseph states he is married in both 1871 & 1881 but there is no wife with him.

We need to find Henry with his parents in 1861. Henry's place of birth is varied -
1871 - Watford, Hertfordshire
1881 - Chertsey, Surrey
1891 - Abingdon, Berkshire
1901 - Kingston, Surrey

As Henry is not consistent with his place of birth the only one that I think comes close to where he originated is probably 1871, Watford as this information may have been supplied by his father. On the last census Henry does not appear to know where he was born.  :-\

I wonder if Joseph was married twice.  Maybe there are Army records for him that would help

Thanks for all your help, I wondered if any one knew who Joseph wife or when Henry was born as this will enable me to purchase a certificate if needed.

That is what we are trying to find!

As Joseph was as soldier he moved around a lot, he could well be abroad for some of the censuses. We know he was born in Spain.
When he is there, his wife for some reason doesn't appear to be with him.
Henry is unsure of his place of birth, so finding him in 1861 is proving difficult
Joseph does not seem to be on 1861 (maybe abroad? or maybe whole family abroad?)

So, it is not proving easy.

Army records may be worth looking for (try National Archives, but not necessarily on line) as has been suggested.
And, rather then finding all the facts then buying a cert - it may be a case of having to buy some certs in order to establish the facts! - we need a birth of a Henry Woodward with father Joseph , a soldier, and then it will give the mothers name.

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex
