William Stoneman not found in census

I think I've found him in the census at sea in 1871. Married age 26 and born in Chedford, Devon.  Should that be Chagford?  So much for me thinking that was too far away........

Can anyone help me identify William Stoneman (mariner)

The 1871 says Judith is a Marines wife, not Mariner which ties in with his occupation at marriage.  I don't know if RM records are available for him 

ADDED - Just looked at the one you found in 1871 and I would agree it is most likely him.

If we are thinking that the Chagford one is likely, then he appears to remarry, as I think I saw him in later censuses with a wife Elizabeth. I'll go back and look again, now we are more interested in him. Would need to see that marriage to see if widower with father William a carpenter.


What happened to the two children from his marriage to Judith after she died?

Of the two children with Judith, William Elias died in 1872 and Elizabeth is with her maternal grandparents in 1881
