Crockatt family
« on: Friday 30 October 15 15:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
Please help with Mary Cockatt, married name Mary Haggart. She was born roughly 1803ish in Alyth, Angus. I believe her fathers name was James Crockatt I think that he was born roughly 1864 bit I'm not sure where. I'd love it if anybody could dig up any old censuses records of Mary so I could see possible siblings. I'm also trying to find her death date to see if it's past 1855 so I could get her cert from Scotlands people.
Thank you
Molly :)

Is it Cockatt or Crockatt you have written both and do you mean 1764 for her father otherwise she would be born before he was!

Was her husband called David?

If they were married before 1841 ** then it's unlikely she will be on a census with any siblings, she will be with her husband and children.

I can see her in 1851 with husband and 6 children if you need those  :)

** marriage 29 May 1825

James Crockatt born 1764 appears to be on his own in 1841 and 1851.  Occupation linen weaver.
Birthplace in 1851 Alyth Perth

Hello  :)
Yes sorry about that, it's 'Crockatt' not 'Cockatt' although I've seen it spelt Crocket and Crockat before and yes, it was supposed to be 1764, sorry it's been a long day!  :D
Yes she married David Haggart and I've seen that James was alone in those to census' myself, but that's all I can find on them ???

On the markinch burials online there is a Jean Crockatt (86) widow of David Hoggan buried 1847 and a James Crockatt (88) buried 1852. That would make James' birth about 1764. As they are both buried here and roughly the same age could they possibly be brother and sister which would've made David Haggart and Mary Crockatt cousins? Oh my :D

Hi,
For anybody else researching this family,
A James Crockat married a Mary Ramsay 1792 Alyth. Also James Crockat born 28/11/1769 Alyth Perth.

Could this be the family I have been looking for!? :D
