Mystery man

A bit of a long shot, but, does anyone recognise this man?  I think he's my great grandmother's first fiancé as he's standing next to her in the original.   If so the photo would have been taken in Gillingham or Chatham round about 1882 - 1886.   I'd love to be able to put a name to him and even know what became of him.
