Help with registers of Britwell Salome and Britwell Prior

Hi I have just received the parish register transcription of Britwell Salome from the Oxfordshire FHS. Britwell Salome and Britwell Prior neighbour each other and are both sometimes referred to as Brightwell.

The transcription states that there are only a couple of registers for Britwell Prior from the 1800s and these are included in the transcription. However online it seems to state that there are bishop's transcripts for Britwell Prior from 1604 so I am not sure if these are additional registers or if they were recorded in the Britwell Salome registers as Britwell Prior it appears was a chapelry.

I am looking for the baptism of an Elizabeth Johnson born c1793-6 in Britwell and she is not in the Britwell Salome registers. I am therefore wondering if there are additional registers for Britwell Prior that have not been transcribed.

Can anyone please help me with this at all?

Hi Jon,

I know you referred to on-line searches but have you contacted the Oxfordshire FHS?

Britwell Salome baptisms & marriages seem to start about 1550 and and are on CD OXF-SO03 issued by the Society.

Or if you prefer they will do a search for you.

Thanks for the reply. I have indeed ordered the Britwell Salome registers and looked through them but Britwell Prior which neighbours it appears to have been a Chapelry and came under Newington parish so I am trying to find out what other records survive.

Hopefully I will be able to track down my Elizabeth Johnson!
