Missing death record
« on: Sunday 01 November 15 15:41 GMT (UK) »
I need help finding my 3x great grandfather's death/burial records. Stephen Kemp born abt 1807 in Woodnesborough Kent. He married Rose Ann Mcgraa in Liverpool in 1836 in St. Peter's Church, Church Street, Liverpool. The 1841 census is missing, but I found him and his family on the 1851 Liverpool census living in Paul Street, occupation as a mariner "stays at home". From the 1861 census onwards his wife is a widow. I have looked outside of Liverpool including his home town, there are few Stephen Kemps but I am unable to find a link with any of them so far.

If he returned to work as a mariner - he may have died at sea

Is there a possibility I may have found a "death at sea" for my 3x great grandfather, Stephen Kemp?. FindMyPast website lists a Stephen "Ke" aboard the Lord Ashburton which was shipwrecked near the island of Grand Manan, Canada  in 1857. The ship's main port was Liverpool, which is where my ancestor lived. I have searched and searched for his death record so I am just hoping I have struck lucky!  He died between 1851 and 1861 census.
This particular shipwreck is quite well known on the island of Grand Manan, the local community even erected a monument in memory of the dead seamen. Is there anyway I could find out more about the crew of this ship?

Hello
On the 1851 census he states occupation mariner.stays at home. Does that not imply that his job was more docks than seabound.
