Hello could some kind person assist , my great grand uncle Neil Macpherson (b 1839 ) of Skye had four children u/n male , Donald , Marion , Flora Ann . I am trying to clarify the name of Neil's wife was it Euphemia (Effie) Shaw or Dorothy Ann McKinnon (nee Campbell) .

Hi Carole thank you for your assistance , the children I think were born in Borradale according to my uncles research notes , but I am not sure about Neil possibly died between 1895 & 1901 in Borradale but i'm not sure ...

Hello Edward,

The three children you have listed belong to Neil Macpherson and Dorothy, previous name MacKinnon.  Neil appears to have died between 1891 and 1901 so you can confirm he is your g-g uncle (providing you already know his parent's names) by downloading his death cert from http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search/  Neil Macpherson & Dorothy McKinnon were married in 1881.  This certificate will also confirm both sets of parents.

1871 for Duirinish - all b there except Margaret.  Neil may have been single at that time but you would need to view the original image to check.

You were right, CarolW, both Neil and Dorothy were previously married.  Quite a cross-over of names here with the two Neil Macphersons:

Neil Macpherson, born about 1847, married to Effy Shaw, was the son of Allan Macpherson & Dorothy Macleod.  Her parents were Malcolm Shaw and Ann McKinnon

Neil Macpherson, born about 1840, married Dorothy McKinnon 12 July 1881.  Both were widowed.  His parents were Alexander Macpherson & Flora McLeod.  Her parents were Murdoch Campbell and Marion Shaw
