Gwennap census 1841 lookup
« on: Monday 02 November 15 01:54 GMT (UK) »
Please could a kind Rootschatter help me out with a problem.

On her marriage certificate in 1847, Johanna Gray names her father as Samuel Gray, innkeeper.

On the 1841 census (when I had a subscription!) I found Samuel Gray, beer seller, with his wife Johanna and seven children.  A son John (age 12) is the right age to be an enumerator error for Johanna.

FreeReg don't have baptism records for the Gray children except for John, son of Samuel Gray (a miner) and Joanna baptised July 1829 at St Wenappa's Church, Gwennap.

Please could someone have a look to see if there is a Samuel Gray (miner) with wife Joanna and son John (age 12) in Gwennap?  Or if there is another Samuel Gray with wife Joanna who is involved in selling booze?

This is driving me nuts!

(dances round room, waving arms in the air and whooping with delight)

I confess, I am a twit!  All the sites I looked at and I completely overlooked the Online Parish Clerk.  And it hadn't occurred to me that Samuel and Joanna would baptise their children in batches.

A thousand thanks to you for your help.

I am now a very happy bunny!  :)
