Kildollagh Fishloughan Robert Cox
« on: Monday 02 November 15 21:48 GMT (UK) »
Have been looking for sometime for Robert Cox who in 1858 griffith's was at Fishloughan in Kildollagh. I have had no luck finding his marriage or even locating him in the census. I am hoping his death record is around but have not found it. Looking for anymore info on him. I have no idea who his spouse was or parents are. Or if he had children. If anyone has info on families living at Fishloughan in Kildollagh 1840-1890 they may relate. I need something to id his parents here. 1831 census has

Aghadowey Bovagh Robert Cox
Aghadowey Lisnamuck William Cox
Aghadowey Mullaghinch William Cox
Magherafelt Mullaghboy William Cox
Tamlaght Ballydawley Francis Cox
Tamlaght O'Crilly Glenone Village Laurence Cox
Kildollagh Pullans Moses Cox
Clondermot Ardmore Widow Cox
Cumber Upper Lisbunny Rosborough Widow Cox

can't find a Robert but wonder if the Moses Cox at Kildollagh is related to Robert Cox? Any help tracking siblings appreciated. The entries on familysearch don't seem to help

Cheers

In the 1860-63 Valuation Revision Book Robert Cox, with 3 others, is leasing an island in Fishloughan (Loughan Island). In the next book, 1864-80, his name is crossed out. I can't read what is inserted...it doesn't look like a person's name? Familysearch has a death of a Robert Cox in 1872 aged 79 registered in Coleraine.

Thanks familyroutes for the help. Can you get me a copy of the 1860-63 Valuation Revision Book page you have seen showing Robert Cox? Who did he lease from? Would the 3 others be his sons perhaps? There is a Robert in the 1831 census 4 males 1 female maybe him with wife and 3 sons. I will check the 1872 death record it could be him

Robert Cox of Bovagh is not the same Robert Cox from Fish Loughan. Robert Cox of Bovagh was a merchant and born c1780- his father was also a Robert Cox (smith).

Could Robert Cox of Bovagh be the father of Robert Cox from Fish Loughan? Do you have more info on Robert Cox of Bovagh and his father the smith? How far away is Bovagh from Fish Loughan? I am interested to know of any possible Cox relations of Robert Cox from Fish Loughan. Census apart from 1831 does any other Irish census show Robert Cox from Fish Loughan?

Fish Loughan to Bovagh probably about 10 miles now.

Unless you have an idea of when Robert Cox of Fish Loughan was born there's no way to say if Robert of Bovagh (or anyone else) is his father.
