can anyone help with Margaret McFarlane
« on: Wednesday 04 November 15 01:45 GMT (UK) »
Hiya,

I was wondering if anyone can help me please!

I'm trying to find whatever information I can on my great great gran Margaret McFarlane before she was married. She was born 1853-1855 in Barrhead, Renfrew and her parents are Andrew and Margaret, her mother maiden name looks like Annan. In 1873 she married Walter Allison and her mother is alive but her father isn't. Margaret died in 1917 and her mother is listed as dead. I'm struggling so much to find a death for both parents and any census record for Margaret or her parents before 1881 or none for her mum at all. I don't know any names or siblings or have a marriage for her parents. If anyone can help me info on her parents death birth or marriage or any census records that would be great, ive went through lists on scotlands people and numerous records have been wrong. her dad is down as a brick and block cutter on her marriage and death. there is this census from 1861 on ancestry but I can access it cause I'm not a paying member.

Thanks

Gary

The only one close by name which I could find was this.....

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FQ9F-R79

It doesn't show up on SP though?

Of course it may not be your Margaret.

Ancestry has a birth in its Scotland Select Births and Baptisms of an Andrew McFarlane born 1843 Campsie son of Andrew McFarlane and Margaret Hennan. This looks like a match for the Andrew in the 1861 census found by Trish1120.

Having trouble finding them 1851
Been searching without surname even

Found this
Name: Robert
Birth: abt 1850 - Campsie, Stirling
Residence:   Milton, Campsie, Stirlingshire

Cant seem to track the others if this is Robert age 12 in 1861 Census

Got to be a connection as in 1851 in Milton Village, Campsie, Stirling, we have;
James Hermon, 60
Ha??AL Hennan, 60
Both born Ireland

Hello gary & trish1120,
I found this on A*try but not sure if it's the right family.
Trish, this is ED: 2A. Page: 25. Household Schedule No: 85 in Village of Milton, Stirlingshire. Is that a match with the Robert you found?
(Line 13)  Andrew  Mc Farlane  31  Calico Printer Block      b  ??, Lanark.
     (Line 14)  Margaret      "          31              -                  b  ??, Lanark.
(Line 15)  Ann            "          12  Tearer to Calico Printer  b  Campsie, Stirling.
Ann is listed as a Son & no Household Schedule No. given for Margaret & Ann.

               Regards,     Dod.

PS. 1851 Census.

Hello,
Found some more. No Household Schedule No. given but same Page No. and the Line Numbers run on consecutively from previous post. (Ann Mc Farlane, Line 15)
     1851 Census. Milton, Stirlingshire.
(Line 16)  Andrew Mc Farlane  8  b  Campsie, Stirling.
     (Line 17)  Helen          "         5  b       "           "
     (Line 18)  Bret            "         3   b       "           "
     (Line 19)  Sele            " 11mons b       "           "
Bret & Sele? Might be transcription errors for Robert & Peter on 1861 Census.

               Regards,     Dod.
