Thomas Mullaly Tuam Galway Lookup
« on: Wednesday 04 November 15 03:40 GMT (UK) »
I'd like to find birth/marriage details/parents names of Thomas Mullaly and Jane Hudson if anyone can help, cause I'm stuck:

Thomas was born about 1790 in Tuam, Galway. He was a Catholic (Franciscan)
He was married in Sligo estimate 1808 to Jane Hudson (1793 Sligo - 1858 Melbourne).

I know more about the rest of their lives:

Belfast
Thomas was the building architect at J MacKenzie Brothers & Co Distillery in Belfast where he "had the supervision of the Distillery Buildings".

Enniscorthy
During the late 1830’s, Thomas’ son John Mullaly took a position in Enniscorthy in Wexford with Davis’ Distillery (which is now called Letts Brewery). Thomas was ill with Rheumatic fever and moved to Enniscorthy to live under John's care.

However a temperance preacher, Father Theobold Mathew, managed to convince so many Irish people to sign the pledge that there were no sales of whisky or ale in much of Ireland and the distillery had to close. By June 1840 almost 2 million had signed the pledge and the Enniscorthy distillery closed in 1840.

Emigration
The family met together and decided to cast their lots together and emigrate to Australia. Six of the family sailed on the barque “Salsette” in 1840 to Melbourne.

Death
Thomas caught a violent cold while building three houses in Brighton and aged 53 he died on 6 February 1843 at Swanston Street in Melbourne of pneumonia. He was buried on 7 February 1843 at Kew.

Children

Thomas and Ann had seven children in Ireland four of whom later emigrated to Australia with them on the “Salsette” in 1840:

. Isabella Mullaly (1810 –) m.Aug 1839 Bernard Coughlan of Bray [remained in Ireland]

. Mary Clara Mullaly (1823 Belfast – 1910 Melbourne) m. 22 Nov 1858 Melbourne to Charles Thomas Cornelius Plunket (1826-1902)

I also know that his son Maurice Mullaly was superintendant Inland Revenue Wexford, who had issue:

. Jane Mullaly (1853 -1871 Wexford) m.1868 John Corry Larkin son of Patrick Larkin
. John Thomas Mullaly (1849 – 1877 Wexford Ireland) d.28

. Mary E Pius Mullaly (1862 – 1891 Kilkenny Convent)
. Anne Mullaly (1863 – aft.1911)

Any assistance appreciated
