marriage certs
« on: Wednesday 04 November 15 17:06 GMT (UK) »
A friend as asked me the following,
I need help...I am having a senior moment..

A few years ago I knew how to do something, but now I am not sure.

Its an Irish thing, I want to purchase a marriage cert for 1863 in Naas, Co. Kildare..

What is the right web site address, because I have now seen several...I do have the volume & page no...did that research years ago.

Put it off because I suspect chasing my maternal grandmother's family down my involve a trip to Ireland.

I am interested now because really want to confirm fathers names.

Thought you might know...

Civil registration of Catholic marriages* didn't start until 1864, non-Catholic ones (including Registry Office) from 1845.

*if Catholic and pre-1864 then you need to search church records-

which is why I mentioned registration dates and posted the link to Catholic Registers in reply #2
