Two births in Belfast
« on: Thursday 05 November 15 11:23 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to do some research for a friend. her husband's parents were both born in Belfast in 1933 and 1937.

I was wondering how I would go about finding evidence of their births and then following their lines backwards via census returns.

Are there census available to view for Northern Ireland?

Thank you

Sue

The latest available census for Ireland is 1911-
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

You can view births over 100 years old on GRONI's site or order more recent ones-
https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/
Note: FamilySearch (www.familysearch.org) have the civil registration index online (free) but it only goes up to 1921 for N.I. counties.

We aren't allowed to post details of living people but if you are able to trace friend's family back further let us know if we can help you find information or suggest where to search next.
