Had a chat to my son about Upper Badrain. A solicitor friend has come up with all the titles to the place since it was constructed and the details don't tally with the names you have given. Is it possible that your relatives were involved with Badrain Farm rather than Upper Badrain Farm?

Just been having another look at the census reports for 1891. it shows the Jack  family at BRAE of Badrain, along with Mackenzies and Forbes. the Macleans were at Upper Badrain
My fathers birth cert, states he was born in Upper Badrain 1887.
In the 1881 census it only gives Parish of Urquhart from west to east with his designation as Crofter. don't know where exactly.but i think it is still Badrain as the Mackenzies and Forbes are still their neighbours.James Munro is shown as Farmer of 40 Acres.Donald Ross is a Pauper.and a Murdo Macrae is a Farmer of 26 Acres. the other families are all Crofters
In the 1871 Census the family were at  Thortland(if you know the area that was at Suddie)and was a collection of crofts known as auchterflow(West, upper mid etc.)his designation is Farmer of 18 acres Arable.
