Claremont, NH – Edward Joseph Boggis, aged 90 years, of Webster Avenue in Claremont, ended his journey on this earth on Friday June 14, 2013. He was born in Nashua, NH on January 20, 1923 the son of Edward and Doris (Nichols) Boggis. He graduated from Nashua High School in 1941. In 1943, he joined the US Coast Guard and was stationed in Sheep’s Head Bay, Widener Estate and Portsmouth, NH. During his tour of duty, Ed was in charge of training attack dogs which were used to guard the Atlantic Coastline, etc. during WWII. After his tour of duty, Ed worked for Holden Farm and later for the Tamposi Farm in Nashua. He later attended Penn Institute of Criminology concentrating on finger printing and hand writing analysis which he later used as an identification officer (finger printing and photography at the Vermont State Prison in Windsor, VT, where he was instrumental in establishing a vocational program that taught inmates how to carve. In 1972 Ed retired from the State Prison and began woodcarving full time..............
He became famous for his carvings, especially for his six foot Indians which Irene (now deceased) brought to life with her artistic painting skills. He supplied Indians to Abercrombie and Fitch in New York City for many years. etc etc
