Yes, the note makes it more mysterious.
I looked at the petty court sessions, and between 1907 and 1909 a William Farrell was fined four times for being drunk on a public street.Then there is a threat of eviction in 1914.There is nothing to explain an absence in 1911.
In addition, his son had the same name and address, and I cannot be sure from the petty sessions records which of them this was.
