He was indeed, probably (!!) the son of Henry Rhoades; farmer and Ann Luffman. I said earlier that William was my grandfather's nephew, I was a generation out. He was in fact his great nephew. He was the grandson of Richard's older brother, William born 1818, 11 or so years older than my grandfather. As there seems to be no register for Steeping available it looks as though I shall have to invest money to determine if Ann was the infant daughter of Richard and Elizabeth, my father's half sister and therefore my aunt.
By the way, in case anyone wonders; for reasons implied earlier I am NOT 135 years old, 2 generations of my ancestors re-produced very slowly and I am a mere 75!
