Death date given for James elsewhere is 12 Dec 1876, East Gelly Bank, Kinross.

Monica

Monica,

Can you look at the "Bank" again please to check it isn't "Burn"?

An old post but may be a descendant of one of the boys.......if you scroll down the pg there's a marriage for Robert Gray Honeyman and Agnes Ballingall married on November 11, 1842 at Beath, FIF

A lot of the OP's areas are the same as yours.

I've been trying to figure out if the James Ballingall in my tree is their son - I have a copy of his death and it definitely looks like it says 'Bank' in place. There's no spouse listed which doesn't help me connect it to mine and it's signed by his son-in-law Peter Black.

I hope that somebody reads this as I'm still trying to find out about JAMES BALLINGALL and MARGARET MCLAREN.

I came across a marriage the other day and I'm wondering if it's connected?

A MARGARET MACLAREN married a JAMES GALL 1798 in PERTH, SCOTLAND. This is the only marriage a have ever came across that is anything like what in looking for. I wonder if the person writing the name misheard BALLINGALL for GALL? It's not TOO different really, also Perth fits and the date would be one year before the birth of their first son. It wouldn't be the first time a name was recorded wrong, at least not in my family

Hope I hear from somebody

Molly
