Previous research into John Hutchinson born 1820 in Halstead Essex has just proved to be wrong as the parents the researcher in the 80's found had additional children all baptised in Halstead as Hutchins, but known on Census and later as Houchin.
When John was married at St Andrew's Halstead in 1847 to Ann Harris, he was said to be 27, and the son of John Hutchinson, both labourers.
The 1851 Census at Halstead has him as being born at Halstead aged 30
He died in the Halstead workhouse in 1860 aged 40
On baptism for some of his children he is listed as either a labourer or a dealer.
There are three baptisms (i found at Halstead) for the possible father
John son of Philip and Judith 20 Nov 1785, possibly died young as there is a burial for John son of Philip c1787, Yet when Judith died in 1840/41 at Halstead her son John Hutchinson was executor
John Hutchinson son of John and Sarah 02 Feb 1787, but gain there is a burial entry for John son of John.
John Hutchinson base son of Jane Hutchinson 10 April 1787
National Archives have two John Hutchinsons born Halstead one served in the Navy and seems to show on Census records as unmarried
The other was a soldier in the 20th Foot

The 1827 census (per my researcher) Has at Frosts Yard John Hutchinson, 40, wife 29, a soldier and a boy of 9.
It also had at Mansfield John Hutchinson age 78, wife age 67, no children at home
(My John Hutchinson, labourer c.1820 was at Manfield, Halstead on the 1851 census?)
Would there be any records of births and marriages for soldiers of the 20th Foot?
Also if he shows as being at Poona, can he be the soldier home in Essex in 1827?
Thanks Colin
