Help with photo of Cpl Helme Please

I wonder if anyone can tell me anything about this photo please...or suggest what the cup may be for. On the reverse it says: "From Cpl Helme to Lovely Miss Ward"

Probably the best way to find out is to search in newspapers. There seem to be several corporals called Helme winning prizes for shooting from 1871 onwards into the twentieth century.

I think the figure on top of the cup might be a boxer

Thanks Ken for taking the time to respond..I have put up a high res scan of the cup on the Deciphering and Recognition board but I doubt that anyone can make out any more than me  :-\

I have been thinking that the figure on the top is a runner - and for some reason I'm thinking X-country.

Not much help - but I can't seem to get anywhere with the lettering on the cup.
