Missionary burial ground Abbeokuta. Lagos.
« on: Sunday 15 November 15 14:18 GMT (UK) »
Would there be any record of his burial in Africa. Is there a Christian burial ground in this place.
I have copies of his journal and the last letter he wrote was on  January  22 1862  Abbeokuta .

According to the register of candidates Thomas Wilcoxon of 83 Canal Street, Ancoats, Manchester applied in July 1859. His occupation is given as mechanic in the iron trade and his referee was Rev J MacCartie of St Jude's Manchester. He was accepted in at the Church Mission College in 1860 and   was appointed to the Yoruba mission on 16 October 1860, departing on 24 November (aged 21). He served there until 22 March 1862 when he died on 22 March.

Your best source of information in the UK will probably be the Church Mission Society - see the archives page on their website at http://www.cms-uk.org/Resources/LibraryArchives/tabid/190/language/en-GB/Default.aspx

From a bit of googling, it looks as though the college he taught at is now Ajayi Crowther University - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajayi_Crowther_University - where there is a link to the university's own site (which I didn't follow).

Searching for "cemetery Abeokuta" might also bring up something useful...
