I would say either, Kings Own Scottish Borderers or London Scottish.

Not KOSB they have/had dicing around Glengarry,agree possibly London Scottish, or Black Watch.

Don't know if this would help but this is  a grandfather who lived in Buckinghamshire.

Did any of those regiments recruit from 'down south'?

London Scottish recruited in and around Home Counties but during ww1 recruits were sometimes put where they were needed most.
