Samuel Seaton b1799 St Mary's Stilton son of Francis Seaton and Sarah
« on: Wednesday 18 November 15 18:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi hopefully I am in the right bit!  Would someone who has access to the Parish Registers for Stilton, Huntingdonshire, be able to find a baptism for Samuel Seaton b1799 St Mary's Stilton, and if there is a marriage register/burial record for him.  I am questioning some research I have for him and am wondering if the one I have researched and attached to my tree is in fact another Samuel Seaton - The one I have researched married Elizabeth Lake in 1822, was a Baker, had a daughter named Sarah Ann Seaton who married Guy Cole, and died in 1850 after taking a swig of arsenic!  Any help on this would, as always, would be appreciated.

Margaret listed Seaton baptisms and burials in Stilton for you at http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=648010.msg4946782#msg4946782 .

There are no marriages for a Samuel Seaton on Hunts Marriage Index which goes up to 1837

What evidence is there that Samuel Seaton who married in Spalding otp is Samuel Seaton from Stilton? In the absence of a baptism in Stilton is there any evidence that he even existed? What appears to be him was living in 1841 in Sutton St James Lincs but he said he was born in Lincs.

It may be a coincidence, in which I don't believe, but Guy Cole was born in Langham, Rutland, which is where Francis Seaton married Sarah Cole, putative parents of Samuel Seaton

Thank you once again for all your input - I referred back to the previous messages (Bedfordshire Boy - thank you for displaying the link) - I am, as always, going to go back over what information I have, what you guys have posted, and re-posted as references for me - it would seem that maybe Samuel was not born in Stilton, and I have to question whether he is indeed the son of Francis.  I will take a look at the Lincs to the Past record as well to see if there is any info that is of use.

I apologise if I am re-asking questions but I do not come on this forum very often so am still very much a novice at finding my way - but all your responses I have found most useful and although it might not seem like it I do go over what has been said as best I can to try and work things out. So thank you. Jackie

This gives the birth date for Samuel, if correct, but no baptism:-

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Seaton-296

There is a word document on the family history, which you may have seen - search on "The Seaton Lineage" - but doesn't give a birth for Samuel.

That tree also shows an earlier son, Francis born 1795, of Samuel and Sarah (Cole) Seaton. As they didn't marry until 1798 I question this. It would be interesting to see if Samuel was a bachelor or widower when he married Sarah Cole in Langham.
