Parish Registers
« on: Thursday 19 November 15 12:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi All, As a new member, not quite sure if you can help with my query. ? I believe my ancestor Mary Mainwaring/ Manwaring was b. 1834 in Camarthenshire - were there many Mary`s with a father named John Mainwaring/Manwaring at this time ?
I suspect that the family might be of Non Conformist religion.

Many thanks for above details - however, as I have no info between b.1834 and the 1841 Census I was hoping for confirmation of a possible birth/baptism registration !
Mainwaring/Manwaring`s were very prolific in Camarthenshire and I wanted to be sure that I have the right  Mary.

I have a lot of Mainwaring records but no baptism for Mary 1834.  John and Lydia were married at Llandybie but had no children baptised there.  Lydia was born Llanarthney but there are no baptisms for her children there either.

The Mary Mainwaring b. 1834 is almost certainly the correct FT ancestor, with a father John Mainwaring. now it looks that the John Mainwaring - Lydia Harries family ticks almost all the boxes!.
I wonder however if there are any other John Mainwarings marriages circa 1800/1840, in particular the Llandilofawr/Llandebie/Llangafelach/Pant-y-Feren area.?
An other reason for solving the Mainwaring ancestry is that it may prove the connection to Roger Manwaring Bishop Of St Davids !!!!

There are a few -

Llandybie - John and Lydia is the only marriage between those dates.
Llanedi - 20.11.1801 John of Llangennech and Elizabeth Powell
                5.12.1802  John and Jane Richard
Llangyfelach - 11.11.1821  John Mandrey and Alice John or Mary Thomas
Llannon - 15.2.1811  John and Jane Davies
Llanarthney  16.6.1826  John and Hannah Evans
 and then there's Llanelli.

Now that is interesting!  I have John down as son of John and Jane Mainwaring of Coedceimion.  Why is he shown as of Felinfach?  My own Mainwaring ancestors were there at that time.  Perhaps he was working and living there with relatives.
