John Andrews b after 1783 Alvechurch, Worcester
« on: Sunday 22 November 15 19:16 GMT (UK) »
John Andrews was the first child of Joseph Andrews and Mary Terry.  Joseph Andrews and Mary Terry married 24 May 1783 St Lawrence, Alvechurch, Worcester.

Joseph Andrews and Mary Terry had three other children: Elizabeth 1784-1864, Thomas 1786 and Joseph 1789-1861.

John Andrews has proved difficult for me to trace.  The will of John's father Joseph was written on 18 February 1834.  In the will Joseph mentions John and his three siblings.  I am able to trace the siblings of John Andrews, but, not John himself.

With John being the first named in the will of his father Joseph I would expect him to have been the first born male between 1783 and 1786.  However, I can not find any trace.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Do you know Mary's marital status when she married Joseph ie could she have been a widow

There is a birth of a John Terry to a Mary and Barbnabas Terry in 1781

Name   John Terry
Gender   Male
Christening Date   03 Jun 1781
Christening Place   Worcester, England
Father's Name   Barnabas Terry
Mother's Name   Mary Terry

So could it be that John is actually Joseph's step son ?

EDIT: I think you can rule out this idea as Barnabas and Mary appear to have at least two more children later on
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Thanks for looking.

Joseph Andrews and Mary Terry were married by licence.  I do not know her status at the time.  Interestingly both signed.
