Johnson Coffeetree; civilian prison of war - died in Germany, 1916
« on: Monday 23 November 15 19:11 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Trying to find information on Johnson Coffeetree.

His name is variously [mis]spelt:

Johnson Coffeetree;
Johnson Coffee-tree;
Johnson Coffeethee;
Jonson Coffeetree; and
Jonson Coffee-tree

I believe he was originally from Cape Town.

The only other information I have is that he worked in the theatre (maybe as an agent); was living in Germany at the outbreak of WW1; interned at Ruhleben Camp (outside Berlin), where he died aged 54 in 1916.

Thank You.

These file are held in the Archives in Pretoria. If you want copies of the files you can try www.eggsa.org they have a service which is very reasonable and easier than trying the archives directly, especially the Pretoria one.  Estate files can be very large so be clear as to what information you are looking for.  You can also get a researcher in the area to visit the archives for you, but they do charge more.  This link will give you a list of researchers:
