Hallmark - I was looking at one of the records on Irish Genealogy... it was a baptismal record and referred to two "sponsors".  Would that be Godparents in modern day parlance?
Regards, Carol

Yes they would.

You can read those registers?? I just about lost my sight:(

From what I could see - yes the father's name is Thade (or Thadde, or Thadee) which I think was an "older" variant for Timothy, and frankly feels more legitimate to me actually than the English variant.

I couldn't make out either the child's christian name or actually, the mother's christian name?  But I have added the variants of Thade to Timothy's name because I would like it to be as genuine to the times and place as I can make it.  Thank you!

Dathai - thanks for that info on Timothy Snr's death!  Very helpful~!

I note on the 1901 census you provided... it seems to imply that his wife Ellen had a servant???  I have been under the impression these folk were very poor so that seems quite odd - especially since he only left 85 pounds to Ellen at his death.

A lot of money then... plus if servant lived in they weren't paid too much!
