If you can also put a "X" next to names in her husband's line & what relation the child was named after e.g. grandfather/grandmother etc....that would help?

The reference to "West Scotland" could have been misconstrued over the years with the County being missed out?

Gowkhall being in West Fife?

I actually wonder if it's "Gowkhall", in the parish of Carnock, West Fife.
Malky

Sorry Malky,

Didn't see your post but agree on that one.

Was her father's name not recorded on her marriage or death cert?

Hi Annie,

Sorry for the delay, I've been travelling today. The names of her children with John Ernest King, who she married in Tasmania in 1866 and who was born in Tasmania of English descent (I think) were:

Ernest Henry
Arthur William
Francis David
George
Maria Elizabeth
Charles John
Alfred.

John Ernest King's parents were John King and Caroline nee Bramich.

Edit: Caroline's parents were Thomas & Maria.

Sorry Annie, just read your follow up posts. No, Tasmanian marriage certificates for that period don't list parents and I don't have her death certificate, just the obituary. It's too late to be online.

Mmmm,

Naming pattern is a bit of a kaleidoscope  ???

The only daughter not named after both parents (Caroline & Mary) although Maria is close (if the right parents are David & Mary) & Elizabeth may be her g/mother?

Both fathers named as middle names.

A further search....

David & Mary also had a daughter Elizabeth so it's looking good but I think the death cert is a must for fathers name.
