Trying to find the right James Crawley's on census from Sheepsbridge.
« on: Wednesday 25 November 15 18:53 GMT (UK) »
The only information I  have is a marriage record for my great grandfather James Crawley abt 1898 Breadman from (Meighfoner) who married Lizzie Grant abt 1898 dressmaker from (Lathbergit) Armagh in 1919. Marriage took place in Mullaghbawn Catholic church. It is a common name and I am having trouble finding them in the Irish census and births for them. His father was John Crawley and her father was Patrick Grant. Both Farmers.  I thought they were from Sheepsbridge originally.  The marriage record says they were both full age. I am also confused as to the location. Is Meighfoner, Meigh? Any leads would be a great help as not much to go on. A family member said they thought James Crawley had a brother Maxwell which has thrown me right of track. But could be wrong information.
Thankyou

I wonder could Lizzie be older than the marriage would have you think, there is this one, if you look at the original you can see the children were listed as Grand aunt clearly the head of house hold was their Grand Aunt.
Can't see the Crawley's in the same place though.

If that is the correct Lizzie there is this James of a similar age in the area but no father

Thanks, that's really interesting, I don't have anything else to go on yet but these seem more hopeful than the ones I found! It's a tricky one as I have nothing except this marriage cert and then some more recent information. I'll definitely dig around using the information you have given me and see what comes of it. A Michael Crawley was a witness on the marriage record.
Thanks again  :)

RootsIreland has an 1889 baptism record for a James Crolly with father John and mother Catherine McParland, there is a reference to the subsequent marriage to Lizzie Grant and details of her parents. Same website has the baptism record for James' brother Michael.
