FindMyPast don't know that evidently!
The image for Jane Dyer says Newfoundland - no mention of Canada (quite correctly in 1881). But the FindMyPast transcript says Canada (no mention of Newfoundland).
What happen to the transcribe what you see policy?

They don't teach geography in schools these days.  My dau's knowledge of geography is woeful, even for England!

FindMyPast ought to know better but they aren't the only genealogy/family history site whose geographic knowledge leaves something to be desired ;)

My excuse for not knowing Newfoundland wasn't in Canada is that it has been all my life ;)

Cilistina Young in 1871 and Jane Dyer in 1881 have approx same birth year, but according to her death registration the Cilistina Dyer who died in 1903 was about 4 years younger. Could she have died in an institution and her death be registered by someone who didn't have accurate information as to her age?

Cilistina's absence from two successive censuses had made me wonder if she was in an institution of some sort.  They were known to enter patients on the schedule just by their initials.  I've often heard/been told the age at death is the one that's likely to be the most inaccurate.

I'd have to figure out the most likely place, then see if there were any extant records.

It does seem to be the concensus.  Whoever the site belongs to has Cilistina's mother's maiden name, which is handy.

Thank you :) That looks hopeful.  I'll try contacting the owner of the tree.
