Hi Monica, good find. I see Flass in SE corner of this map
http://maps.nls.uk/view/82879782
& St Fort Home Farm is on the NW of the map to the south
http://maps.nls.uk/view/82879806

Just to point out that Flass is in the SW corner of that map.

It looks as though the place you are looking for may well be in the Newport area as the OPR baptisms for ROGER / NICOL mention Enderdivot which is shown as Inverdovat at the NE corner of the same map

I am so bad at this all  :P

Vengeur, great to have confirmation of Inverdovat.

I found this test site by Glasgow University http://fife-placenames.glasgow.ac.uk/  Never seen it before - a major works.

The specific Forgan Parish page here http://fife-placenames.glasgow.ac.uk/parish/?id=36 includes the other three place names we have from that original list of Roger christenings in the Parish, namely: Flass, Inverdovat, and Gateside. It is just the 'problem child' that is left to resolve.

The place is listed under various spellings.
Mountminigog, Mount Minnagog, Montmirrigogue, Montmirrygogue

At the bottom of the Gateside page is this ref:

 Sc gateside

‘Settlement by a road’. The road in question here is the one which leads from Woodhaven through Flass and St Fort. It is clearly shown on SGF (1828).

....gate being the old word for road, as people no doubt know - eg Towngate as a main street name.

I would still like to see the original from which the name transcription is taken. There are several places around that it could be - for instance I see Muttonhole Wood, Moorhouses even a word beginning with Wormit....

I also find [using my specialist knowledge  ;)  ;D] that the area is part of the Estate of St Fort [Ford] in the Barony of Naughton. Here is part of the description on the property search sheet. Perhaps something to do with Naughton - or I see Harlowheills? Just looking for ups & downs in the manuscript version of words....on the Ainslie  map there is a Mornday near Moorhouses

Hello TamPepper,
Andrew Roger/Rodger & Kathrine Nicol are my 5xG.Grandparents, descended from their youngest child, Margaret, b 12th March 1779 at Mountmirrygogue, Forgan.
Margaret married John Rodger, son of John Rodger & Margaret Berrie/Berry, on 3rd Dec, 1799 at Leuchars, Fife. Margaret & John lived at Blebo Mills, Kemback (1841 Census) then Moonzie Mill, Leuchars (1851 Census). Margaret Rodger died 12th June 1858 at Moonzie Mill. (Daughter of Andrew Rodger (Farmer) & Catherine Rodger ms Nicol) John Rodger, miller & farmer at Moonzie Mill, died there on 7th Nov, 1858. (Son of John Rodger (Ploughman) & Margaret Rodger ms Berry)
John & Margaret's children named in his Will are: Thomas Rodger, miller at Moonzie Mill (married to Janet Buttercase). Peter Rodger, miller at Seggie Distillery (married to Elisabeth Smith). David Rodger, miller at Nydie Mill, then Garpit Mill (married to Elizabeth Hain). James Rodger, ploughman, residing at Moonzie Mill (married to Elisabeth Carmichael). Margaret Rodger, wife of John Wannan, Dairsie Bridge. Ann Rodger, wife of John Melville, Lucklawhill. Late daughter Catherine Rodger, spouse of John Henderson, Glasgow. Catherine's 1/7th share to be equally divided between her children.
Sons John b 1800 & Andrew b 1811, must have died without issue before John wrote his Will in 1856. Daughters Janet b 1815, d 1850. Mary b 1821, d 1837. (Margaret, John & daughter Janet, maybe others,  are buried in Leuchars Churchyard. Still to find Headstone.)
Headstone for Kathrine Rodger ms Nicol is in Balmerino Churchyard between Balmerino & Kirkton. M.I. in beautiful script is: "This Stone was erected by Andrew Rodger in Memory of his Spouse, Kattrin Nickil who Departed this life February Th? 1794 aged 64 years."
Can't make out exact date. It could be "The" followed by a number or an abbreviation for Third or Thirteenth. Andrew's name has not been added.
I've not been able to find Mountmirrygogue or anything like it on old maps, but most other places mentioned can be found on this OS 25 Inch, 1892-1905 Map.
     http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=56.4218&lon=-2.9487&layers=168
At left of screen, check that Scotland shows in 1. Select a category box. (Drop-down menu) Change maps using the 'drop-down menu' in 2. Select a map/map series box. Slide the Blue dot on left of screen to get an up to date Satellite over-view or, click on blue 'Side  by Side" at top of screen to make comparing easier. Love these maps.
Sorry I can't help with Mountmirrygogue.
               Regards,     Dod.
