slate splitter and dresser at Bryn Hen, AledRD 1939 register?
« on: Friday 27 November 15 21:10 GMT (UK) »
Found my father at Bryn Hen, Aled RD, Denbighshire on the 1939 register.
Were there sate quarries in that area?
What was he doing there when his pregnant wife was in Caernarvonshire, sharing the home with two evacuees?
What took him from Bryn Hen to Birmingham by November 1940 ?
Questions raised but I am not expecting any answers. If anyone who knows the area could answer the first I would be one step forward.
thank you

Does the 1939 register give the address in Aled as it covered quite a large area from Abergele to Trefnant?
Davies, Bywater, Murray, Gaunt, Benton, Jones, Richardson

Click on map, zoom and look for 1558 806 - top of map.

There's a "Bryn hên just to the West of it - possibility?. You can scroll to check what workings were in the area.

The addresses given on the register are just Aled RD. But I have found 5 of the neighbouring farms on the map.
Also I have learnt (from the map) that it was somewhere near to Llanefydd.  I have a friend who lived at Llanefydd years ago.  Tomorrow I aill see what he has to say.
Thankyou very much for your help

What was your relatives date of birth, please?

I have a memory that maybe slate was used to mount electrical control gear onto,  for power stations or steel works.
