Praise for excellent service!
« on: Saturday 28 November 15 09:32 GMT (UK) »
I just have to share this experience!

On Thursday (26th November) I visited the Isle of Man Civil Registry, with the required form for a Death Certificate from 1981. This was about 1pm.

I asked for an estimate as to when said certificate would be available for collection - Tuesday, I was told. Fair enough, I thought; that's reasonable.

At 5pm on the Thursday (26th) I received a phone call - the certificate was now ready!  :o ;D

Now, I realise that the IoM Civil Registry is not very large, but I still think that was excellent service!

Well done IoM! ;D

We are always ready to complain about poor service, but we often forget to praise the good service when we get it.  I have done it a couple of times and their pleasure at receiving compliment is great to see.

Wandsworth register office has to be the most efficient.  They usually produce a certificate from the application within an hour.  10/10.     Rob.

You are correct Nanna. We should give more credit where it is due when we receive good service.

Edinburgh is not too bad considering it is a large city. I have had a couple of times recently when I needed certificates from them and waited less than a week - and both included making amendments to the existing entries.

On the subject of good service

I ordered a CD from Anguline Genealogy services at midday yesterday and it arrived this morning.
I had allowed 28 days delivery as it's for a christmas present.

Some years ago I bought a cheese grater from Lakeland. It arrived with one of its little rubber feet missing. I phoned to ask about replacing it and was told they'd get one (the entire grater that is, not just a little foot!) in the post that day. I asked if they wanted me to send the original one back, and was told "oh no, please don't trouble yourself to do that, let a local charity shop have it."

Excellent customer service, and someone else benefitted too.

Oh. When I go to a registry office I leave with the Cert (if they have it, sometimes a local office has a not before date) I didn't even know there were places in the world where you expected a waiting time.

Great service and I didn't even know how lucky we are.
