Hi, I am the youngest daughter of three children by Thomas Henry Harland (Harold in some literature) Moore. My father was born in Banbridge/Northern Ireland in 1912 (just after the 1911 census) and is the son of Abraham Moore and was the brother of Elizabeth, Margaret and Samuel Moore. Unfortunately Samuel died at a very young age – I think he was only still a child.
As children we visited both aunties - Aunt Bessie (Elizabeth) and Margaret in Banbridge, where they lived. When Bessie was a young lady she moved to Canada for a while where she married Hugh McCann and they had 3 boys (two of these children went on to have children of their own). Later she returned to Banbridge with her husband and young family. Aunty Margaret had one child (who we are still in contact with). I have two siblings who are both older than me and both my sister and brother visited our grandmother Elizabeth Moore (maiden name Gilliland) at the Moore’s family home in Weirs Row (off the Lurgan Road) Seapatrick, Banbridge. Over the years we have been to Banbridge many times to visit our family (aunts/uncles/cousins) and have revisited Weirs Row quite a few times with our father/aunts/uncles and in later years cousin to retrace our family heritage and show our own children.
My father was quite young when his father (Abraham Moore) left the family home and although my father moved to England (in 1944 searching for work) he kept in touch with his sisters throughout his life time and mother Elizabeth (Lizzie as I think she was known) until she died in 1953.
I hope this helps you in your search, it would be nice to find out a bit more about your story and your knowledge about Abraham Moore as my father and his sisters lost contact with him when he left the family home all those years ago and although my own sister has looked into the family history/family tree she has found it difficult to find out exactly what happened to our grandfather and indeed where his final resting place was.
