STONHILL at the King's Head in Stewkley

I've found Thomas STONHILL and family at the King's Head, Stewkley on the 1851 census.  They were also there in 1871 and his widow, Mary STONHILL is at the same address in 1881.  BUT where are they in 1861?
Does the Kings Head still exist in Stewkley?

 Nathanial Stonhill maltster of North Street
                        also of The Bull ph High Street.
 Take alook at Leighton-Linslade.com as there are others.
  I think the Kings Head is now a private house but hubby says he thinks the wording is still there (will have to take the kids for a drive)

Could not find on ordinary search had to trawl the Stewkley census so assume transcibing was a scew whiff.

I tried looking through Stewkley myself and failed miserably so thank you for your time.
By using the reference you gave I see that they are indexed under STONKILL.
I'm also interested in the Nathaniel STONHILL at the Bull, especially as Thomas's eldest child was called Nathaniel - there seems to be a connection.

Hi Pat
  Went to Stewkley today only one pub left in the village and thats the Swan. The Kings Head is now a private house called Kings Head House (no surprise). We took a walk to the church but with two small people in tow it was not easy to look around the graves.We will be going back as my older child wants to take flowers to his grt grandparents .( his only 5 but I thought Id get him interested early )

Thank you so much for finding the house for me - The STONHILL family were living there for such a long time that I'm glad it's still there - even if no longer a Pub.

           Just back from Stewkley and had to tell you about latest find.  Along High Street North in the village I found

            STONHILL HOUSE...!
   I am sure there used to be and old garage business run from here I will ask my mother in law for more info.

Hi Tazzie,

There were other members of the STONHILL family in Stewkley.  One was an Blacksmith and one a Wheelwright - their premises might easily have been converted into a garage at a later date.

           Just a quick posting you have got to have a look at this site.

        It has 144 photos of Stewkley go to the very bottom of the list and look at the photo headed Wheelwright shop 1900-1920.  This is now Stonhill House.
        Thanks for the offer  but so far my lot are all ag labs in Bucks or carmen in London but if I find a local Ill let you know.
