Just had another look at the image, and Ellen/Nellie appears to have signed the register as Helen.  I can't attach a snippet  :'(

thanks once again, BumbleB. It's always handy to know the witnesses I think. For years I couldn't make out the surname of one of the witnesses on my grandparents' marriage certificate. Tracing more of my family tree, I discovered it was my grandmother's sister's married name.
No joy on the census with Nellie/Nelly/Nell/Ellen.

I can also see them 1911 - now have 6 children  :)  in Berkshire
