Alemar Digby de Tilton from Robert 2nd Duke of Normandy
« on: Monday 07 December 15 02:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Could any one please tell me, if there is any truth in the story that, Alemar de Digby De tilton was Robert the 2nd Duke of Normandy son, and William the conquerers half brother.

Thanks

There are some sources that say Alemar is William's illegitimate son?
But, as no documentary evidence is offered, I would call these sources dubious!

I have also seen that he was apparently born in Tilton, Leicestershire in 1034?
As William didn't set foot in England until 1066, that claim isn't borne out by historical fact ::)

IMHO, unless you have documentary proof linking that far back, then you are dealing in the realms of fantasy rather than Family History. ;D
