Grandy came up for me as well but I still couldn't find a marriage in the Civil Reg.

1. Anne could be COI so not in the RC Parish Reg
2. She could have another first name she stopped using once married.
3. They either didn't marry in Ireland, or weren't registered.
4. They weren't married at all.

When was their first child born?
What was Hugh's occupation?

Very interesting, thanks,Dathai.I had noticed a Thomas Grandy bfore,on a Griffiths Valuation,I think, but not followed it.
I will have a look for a few more Grandy records.
It's difficult to know which.if any, might be the mis-transcription for the other. The certificate I have definitely has a "b",though it's vaguely possible it is Ganby, not Granby.

Many thanks again.

Regards
Roger

Sinann
First child I know of is an Elizabeth, given born 1879 on 1881 census, though I can't find this birth.(There is an Ellen and an earlier Mary in Mold, but, this may well be a different family-I haven't yet traced them)
Hugh Nolan is described as a pig/cattle dealer(and according to newspaper reports possibly a career drunk!)

Dathai
Obviously Grandy variants is a strong line to pursue

Many thanks,both,again

Regards
Roger

Any precedents/known reasons for such apparent late baptisms e.g conversion?

civil registration for births only started in 1864 for births hence the above births are probably the last of their children there were obviously more born between 1847 and 1864.

The only way I can think of that this would be the right family then is if Ann(e) was a second name
of an earlier child, but called herself Anne.I think it's time to go back to the registers again.
Thanks to all, your help has been invaluable so far.
