Looking for James & Susannah Randall in 1841 & 1851 Census
« on: Friday 11 December 15 12:18 GMT (UK) »
James Randall [Bachelor] & Susannah Randall [Spinster] [same surnames] both of the Parish of Chickerall at marriage were married by Banns 2 Sept 1829. Richard N Randall was a witness to the marriage.  On the same page of marriages is Richard Nelson Randall's marriage to Susanna [surname I am unable to decipher as per the attached] 22 Oct 1828. Both of the Parish at marriage.  James Randall was a witness to the marriage.

Are James & Richard Nelson Randall brothers?

What is Richard Nelson's bride's surname?

Their daughter Susannah was baptised Chickerall Dorset Mar 1830.

Their daughter Susannah married in 1851 at Wyke Regis, Dorset.  Susannah's father was given as James Randall labourer of Chickerall.

I am also hoping to someone far more skilled than I will be able to locate James & Susannah in the 1841 and 1851 census.

I am hoping this information will give me their birth places in the hope of then locating their parents.

Some ancestry trees have James deceased in 1859 but is this the case?

If that's the correct family it looks as if he was still alive in 1861. Different occupation though.

Hello ciderdrinker

Thanks so much for the census records.  I will see if I can replicate the information to obtain the actual census record. The records etc 'sit well'

Hi Groom

Just not sure about the change of occupation to fisherman.  I had come across that record before but just not sure....  :-\

The only way to check would be to get the birth certificate of John Randall  who was 10 in 1861. If that is right it must mean that the John on the 1851 died and another child was named after him.

Looks possible

Deaths Dec 1851
Randall    John        Weymouth    8   104

Births Mar 1852
Randall    John        Weymouth    5a   331

Perhaps if it is possible to locate Richard Nelson Randall's birth record or baptism record may well indicate parents and then it could be seen if James is a brother???

Hello Sandra

I wonder :-\

I had a look at how the letter 'l' was written above and just maybe its Critchell rather than Critchett?

Sandra

It looks more like Critchell from this entry - Dorset births and baptisms give the birth of daughter Susanna Critchele Randall 24 October 1841 - Parents Richard Nelson Randall - Mother Susanna Randall
Perhaps the transcription of Susannah's surname is a slight error.

and England births and baptisms - Susanna Critchell Randale  ::)

Listed here as well - http://www.opcdorset.org/ChickerellFiles/ChickerellBaps.htm
