Owen family of Llan-faes/Beaumaris 1700's
« on: Friday 11 December 15 13:49 GMT (UK) »
I have been checking the marriage of William Owen and Mary Thomas who married in 1752 at Llan-faes church.

A few details on Mary and William also their parents.

Baptisms 1730: Beaumaris

Mary daughter of John Thomas and Mary his wife March 22nd
William son of Ellis Owen and Mary his wife August 10th

I have found a possible marriage date for Mary's parents:-
John Thomas and Mary Rowland married June 1729 at Beaumaris.

So far I have been unable to find a marriage for William's parents and I am further confused as it appears that the name 'Ellis' appears on records for females and males.
I would think that Ellis Owen would have been born in the 1690 to 1710 period and a possible marriage period of 1720 to 1729.

I have searched on Find My Past, Ancestry and Family Search and only come across an Ellis Owen baptised in Llanrhaiadr Ym Mochnant on the 22nd February 1692.

Any suggestions where I might look further for my Anglesey Ellis Owen would be appreciated.

This may help you in your search if you haven't seen
it already.

William Owen labourer of Beaumaris signed his will
on 28 Oct 1758 and probate was granted 12 Feb  1766 to
his widow Mary Thomas named executrix.

Images available at
http://hdl.handle.net/10107/879214

The will mentions his brother Hugh Owen, sisters Elizabeth Owen
and Jane Owen and niece Ellin Williams daughter of Jane.

Thank you graf for the link to the digital images of the will I found the images fascinating.

I will have to do further checks on William Owen and his siblings.

Hi graf, with the information gleaned from William Owen's will and doing further checks I have now crossed the Llan-faes/Beaumaris William Owen family from my 'possibles list'.

I am now looking at another Anglesey William Owen family and at this early stage it has promise, you certainly saved me hours of wasted time in respect of the 'wrong' family, many thanks.
