Hi

The West Oxfordshire RD covered many areas so you would have to obtain a copy of his death cert to establish his address at the time of his death

Burials are always difficult to trace as there is no requirement for them to take place in any particular place or for them to be recorded an any central database.

Usual method is to look at the address at the time of death and start with the cemetery/churchyard closest and work outward in a spiral. Remember that cremation is far more likely than burial these days , and has been for some time.

If that doesn't work - try looking at other family members (e.g. a spouse)  and where they are buried. I found someone who was taken 150 miles to be buried in the same plot as their parents recently.

You could make an inquiry at the crematorium?

You are lucky because in 2000 there were only2 such places - one in Banbury to the North of the county and one in the center at Headington a suburb of the City of Oxford.
At least you can eliminate these two places this way? I suspect it will be Headington operated by Oxford City Council where you will get the most likely result
